It was October, the beginning of the new school
year. Middle school was different, bigger school,
bigger field, and much bigger kids. Nasser, Ali and
Robert had each other, they weren't the type of
kids who got bullied, but it felt safer being around
people you already know in a new place.
Nasser decided to share his secret with his friends, he
thought he was in a pro stage of time traveling
since the charts from his uncle's laptop were showing
that he was doing great. Muhammad did his
best to use most of HIS powers in all of their traveling
but as Nasser do; his symptoms are mostly
just a little of hunger or dizziness or just a little need of sleep.
When Muhammad began Time Traveling he used
to get sick, pass out and he even had dysentery. So
Nasser was feeling pretty good about himself, and
he told them everything since his bedroom until
dressing up as Syrians.
Ali didn't question his friend; in fact, he was
thrilled. It didn't make sense to him, but that didn't stop him from being excited, while Robert had other things to say.
"I'm sorry it’s just not possible" said Robert; he didn't even try to hide the doubt in his tone.
"Are you saying I'm lying?" Nasser asked.
"I don't know what to tell you". Nasser had a
shocked look on his face. "It's not logical, if time travel powers exist in your hands, then other supernatural powers would exist in other people"
Robert replied "and we should've heard from them
by now"
Nasser thought that was ridiculous, and instantly
thought that must be what Robert had thought of
"Maybe there is, I haven't met every person with super
powers".
"But that doesn’t mean I'm not telling that
truth"
"Yeah dude" Ali chipped in "We've been friends
since we were this tall" Ali held his hand a few
inches over the ground, it was illogical but they got
the point.
"Fine," Robert said standing up and holding his
bag "prove it" he challenged.
"You heard the man, he doesn't want to disobey
his father," Ali defended, Nasser was about to
accept the challenge. "plus he showed you pictures"
"They could be……. you know" Robert knew he was taking it too far.
"Photoshopped!!!" said Nasser not believing his
ears.He was on fire and he wouldn't listen to any of
Robert’s accusing, in a second he had disappeared.
It was if the breathing system in the boys' bodies
had stopped working for a minute, Ali gazed to
where his friend was standing and then passed his
hands left and the right to where Nasser was supposed
to be. Ali exchanged looks with Robert and
saw reflections of his own doubts, fears, and confusion.
Nasser appeared, grabbed his backpack and left.
