My first Micheal Morpurgo book, and it's AMAZING Arthur Hobhouse is separated from his only sister in the WWII at the age of six, he is sent to Australia on a ship with dozens of other orphans around his age, he meets up with Marty a ten year old boy, and they will both turn into best friends \ brothers. Both Arthur and Marty become part of the other children who are NOT going to have adopted parents, and they get sent to a Home in which they will live with a very Bad and Evil man. the Journey continues with Arthur and Marty getting through life and troubles and problems. Now the book is filled with details and feelings, lots of feelings and emotions, it reminded me a lot of Forest Gump in some way because of how the story is been moving and how we see every part of Arthur's life and when we get full of it and then we move to the next stage, his childhood, his teen years, his job, his friend ship and his love; it was all so real and full of adventures and (again) feelings.
I had disagreed with some believes of Arthur's as the story went on, but the character did came in a nice shape . the story is a narrated by two people: Arthur, and then his daughter Allie. the only problem i had with Allie's part of the story is when i had to read her emails to her family. i mean it was a nice touch but there were so many emails, that it became a little boring i had to skip a few pages (shame on me :p). the book is a little of a slow read, but its still an amazing read. four stars, i hope it turns to be a movie.
